Publicist, public figure. He came from a Jewish farming family in Chernigov province. Until 1917 he worked in Jewish schools in Ukraine. After 1917 he worked as a writer and editor on various Yiddish Communist publications. In 1932 he settles in Birobidzhan, where he was head of the newspaper "Birobidzhaner Shtern".
